Construction starts at Issaquah Highlands’ senior housing development
The Springs at Issaquah Highlands is set to open in late 2028.
Ground was broken last week on The Springs at Issaquah Highlands, a new 225-unit senior housing community. The community is being built on a 3.5-acre undeveloped site, newly addressed at 850 Eighth Ave. N.E. That’s close to Gateway Park and adjacent to Swedish Issaquah.
The first DJC reported the sale, and plan, last week of the site to an LLC associated with developer The Springs Living for $14 million. Groundbreaking swiftly followed the sale.
Oregon-headquartered The Springs Living owns, develops and operates 23 communities across Oregon, Washington and Montana. The company has a community in Vancouver, but the Issaquah project is its first in the Seattle region.
The Springs at Issaquah Highlands is designed by Mackenzie and GBD Architects. Exxel Pacific is the general contractor.
The midrise building will offer four stories and 114 independent living, 84 assisted living, and 27 memory care apartments. Amenities include a landscaped roof deck with ample space to sit and gather, an indoor pool, gym, salon, art room, bike room and two different dining rooms-cum-restaurants.
The Springs says the new community is designed to reflect the character of the Issaquah Highlands and its walkable access to parks and trails. In addition, its “intentional positioning next to Swedish reflects the organization’s model of care and service: to overlay and create a direct connection between the healthcare system and (The Springs Living) communities.”
The project is being developed in partnership with PMB. The team also includes Harrison Street, capital partner; Huntington Bank, lender; KPFF, structural engineer; Mackenzie, civil engineer; Lango Hansen Landscape Architects; Interface Engineering, MEP and fire engineer; and Counsilman-Hunsaker, the pool designer.
