New name, completion schedule for DESC Bitter Lake project

The North Star is designed by SMR Architects.
A 100-unit permanent supportive housing project, at 924 and 934 N. 143rd St., has been given an official name. Developer DESC has called the building The North Star.

Construction is also well underway on the project, which DESC said should be complete this summer.

Construction began in April 2021. Exxel Pacific is the general contractor.

The building is 63,385 square feet and consists of five levels of wood frame on top of a one level concrete podium. In addition to the units, which are all studios, the community has common areas and a courtyard. There is also ground level support services for residents and four surface parking spaces for staff, with bicycle parking for residents.
