Woodinville project honored for reusing old apartments

The Villas apartments at Woodinville Village won the Gold Nugget Grand Award for Outstanding Renovated Multifamily Projects at the 46th annual Pacific Coast Builders’ Conference in San Francisco.

Tiscareno Associates, MJR Development and Exxel Construction shared in the honor.

The team said in a press release that the 39 apartments had little appeal beyond their natural setting. Staying within the existing footprint, the complex was renovated into luxury apartments.

The Villas is located at 14625 N.E. 145th St. in Woodinville. Units range from 1,100 to 1,700 square feet.

The project gave the building a facelift, and reoriented the units sometimes 90 degrees to take advantage of views of Mount Rainier and the Chateau Ste. Michelle winery. Crews added large windows, changed shared walls and redesigned interior spaces. The landscape was upgraded, with new courtyard trees and terraced back decks.

Before the renovation, the 39 apartments had little appeal beyond their natural setting.

Strict shoreline regulations prevented change to the building envelope.

The project team was: architect, Tiscareno Associates; developer, MJR Development; landscape architect, Hewitt Architects; interiors, Weber Thompson; and structural engineer, Perbix Bykonen.
